Today’s challenge: switch off all tech two hours before bedtime.
This is an important starting point if we want to start learning how to manage tech so it does not manage us!
The bright lights from our devices, laptop, television, blocks the release of the sleep hormone, melatonin. It delays the release of this hormone for up to 1.5 hours.
The best option is not to keep your phone in your bedroom and begin your nighttime routine. Having a regular routine triggers your brain that it is sleep time.
I’ve found this is a great time to think, evaluate my day, pray, meditate. I love to think about the next day or some creative work before sleep because our brains will then work to solve problems and reorganize data.
Edison and Einstein both loved to go sleep with a request for their subconscious mind. “ Never go to sleep without a request to your subconscious mind”. Thomas Edison.
If you must use your device using your night screen is helpful. Do not turn it to warm, because the yellow light stimulates daytime and has the same effect as the blue light.
I’ve actually turned my screen to grayscale. This removes all color from the screen turning everything black and white. It decreases the stimulation in my brain and especially with the red notification alerts.
