Respect, some would say, can't live with it, can't live without it! It is super important in all of our relationships, but it comes into play daily in our marriages.
Respect defined: a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements; due regard for the feelings, wishes, rights, or traditions of others.
How does this come into play in our marriages?
When we demonstrate respect for our spouses we are saying, I care about you. You are important to me. You belong and add value to our home. You are loved.
The flip side is also true. When we disrespect our spouse we are essentially saying, I don't care about you. Your opinion, thoughts, and feelings do not matter to me. I love myself more than I love you. I'm the only one who matters around here.
