This quote really spoke to my heart today: " Our freedom can be measured by the number of things we can walk away from. "
When I think of freedom, often, I think of all the things I can do or have, I think of choices. Although freedom has to do with choices, this quote was definitely a mind shift.
This person's perspective is that freedom is the choice to walk away from something I know I can have or do, but I choose NOT TO DO IT. WOWZA! This is so true for me.
For example, I am free to have an ice cream sundae if I desire it. However, I'm on a diet and trying to live a healthy and fit life, so at this fork in the road, I have a choice.
Will my values to live a healthy lifestyle affect my choices?
What I've learned is that sometimes denying what you can freely choose is a place of power and freedom.
