Fred Rogers has so many wise words and has impacted lives for the better.
This quote really spoke to my heart; "I'm convinced that when we help our children find healthy ways of dealing with their feelings, ways that don't hurt them or anyone else, we're helping to make our world a safer, better place".
You see, many in our culture have lost the ability to manage their emotions in healthy ways. We see people name calling, condemning, and spewing forth hate when others disagree with them.
This learning to control our emotions does not come naturally to us. It takes intention, practice and a building of new pathways in the brain.
This is especially true for our kids. Their brains are still being developed and you get to be part of your teen's brain-building crew.
There are two important components for managing emotions: impulse control and the ability to demonstrate empathy and compassion.
In the Parenting with Intention Workshop for Parents with Teens and Tweens, we will explore how we can assist our teens to access those areas of the brain and build new pathways.
It starts tomorrow, February 21st. and running for four consecutive weeks: classes at 1pm and 8pm. Must register at LivingFullLifeCoaching.com.
