Are you hiding who you really are?
This quote really made me pause and ponder, “Why am I afraid to tell you who I am? I am afraid to tell you who I am, because, if I tell you who I am, you may not like who I am, and it's all that I have...”
I think there is merit to this quote. Everyone wants to be accepted. The question remains, do you want to be accepted as someone you are not?
Hmm? If you were accepted by everyone and it wasn't the real you, wouldn't you feel lonely anyway? We see this all the time, people who are lonely surrounded by others.
So what keeps us from being real in front of others? The idea of rejection or being judged keeps us from being vulnerable and taking risks with others in our relationships.
Now, not all people are safe to share everything with, however, being vulnerable with "your people" creates connection and depth in your relationships.
Maybe you are hiding because you really don't know who you are. If that's the case, coaching can help you discover your values, your personality bend, your strengths and the things that move you forward.
Many of us spend too little time developing self-awareness. When we develop self-awareness, we can then begin to make changes for moving forward in our lives with depth and meaning.
Are you ready to take the risk and show us who you really are today? If you do, your relationships will begin to develop meaning.
What one step can you take today to be authentically seen by those close to you?
