What are you thinking about today?
This photo captivated me. It brought me back to a time in my childhood, when I would just lay down and watch the clouds go by. Yup. That's what I did. It was a time of creativity, of free thought, of just wondering. No google for the answers. Just thinking.
Raising kids today is hard. The distraction of television, electronic devices, & video games consumes them. Today, you rarely see a child looking at the sky or even straightforward. Eye contact is a thing of the past.
What if we encouraged our kids to enjoy being still, being alone with their thoughts, being creative?
I'm fearful that as soon as our kids tell us they are bored; we jump into action to fill their time. I can honestly say, that I have been guilty of this when my kids were young.
It seems that many of us have made alone time punishment for our kids or something to be avoided; when it should be refreshing.
What if we modeled for our kids that it okay to be alone and think, reflect, dream and wonder?
What would it take for you to consider implementing downtime in the life of your family?
What could that look like for your family?
