I love this quote, "One of the most sincere forms of respect is actually listening to what another has to say". Bryant McGill
Respect defined: an act of giving particular attention : consideration; high or special regard : esteem (Merriam-Webster)
What this quote is saying to me is that when we are respecting others we are giving them our full attention; face to face time, to listen to their thoughts, dreams and concerns. We are really listening to the words spoken and the words left unspoken.
This can be challenging in our day and age with constant distraction and busyness; especially in our marriages. However, our marriage relationships need this time to flourish and grow.
What if we took some time out over the next few weeks to spend some face to face time with our loved ones?
What if we shut off the phone, shut off the television, shut off the radio and listened to those we love?
What if we practiced showing respect to those we come in contact with at parties (giving them particular attention and consideration; showing high regard for what they have to say)?
What is one relationship you will choose to focus on today?
